Uomo di Newry arrestato a Dundalk. Nella sua auto munizioni e passamontagna

Un trentatreenne di Newry viene interrogato dalla Gardai, dopo il ritrovamento di munizioni nel suo veicolo

La polizia ha fermato la vettura 4×4 sulla M1 vicino a Dudalk, Contea di Louth, mentre si recava verso nord.

L’uomo è stato arrestato nella zona conosciuta come Heynestown intorno alle 16:30 di martedì.

Viene interrogato nella stazione della Garda di Drogheda, dopo può essere trattenuto per tre giorni.

L’operazione mirava a colpire le attività dei repubblicani nella zona.

Una piccola quantità di proiettili ed un passamontagna sono stati recuperati dalla vettura, sequestrata dalla Gardai.

Sono stati effettuati rilievi sul Suv per cercare tracce di esplosivo.

Newry man arrested over ammunition

A 33-year-old man from Newry is being questioned by Gardai after ammunition was found in his vehicle.

Armed police stopped the 4×4 on the M1 near Dundalk, Co Louth, as it was being driven north.

The man was arrested in an area known as Heynestown at approximately 4.30pm on Tuesday.

He is being quizzed at Drogheda Garda Station, where he can be held for up to three days.

It is understood the operation was targeting dissident republican activities in the area.

A small quantity of bullets and a balaclava were recovered in the vehicle, which was seized by gardai.

Forensic officers have examined the SUV for any trace of explosives.
