Un uomo residente a West Belfast è stato ferito ad entrambe le gambe durante un attacco in stile paramilitare, descritto come “brutale” dalla polizia.
La vittima, un uomo di età tra 20 e 30 anni, si trova ricoverato in ospedale in condizioni stabili dopo il ferimento con armi da fuoco avvenuto martedì a Turf Lodge, West Belfast.
L’attacco è avvenuto a Monagh Road e questo è il terzo attacco armato nell’area da settimana scorsa. La polizia ha fatto sapere che le vittime non sono collegate tra di loro.
Il Soprintendente Capo della PSNI Chris Noble ha detto che è troppo pesto per affermare se i recenti ferimenti sono collegati ma il coinvolgimento dei gruppi repubblicani armati è una delle linee dell’inchiesta.
L’investigatore Richard Thornton ha detto che la vittima stava camminando lungo Monagh Road, vicino alla zona dei negozi, quando è stato fermato da due uomini che “lo hanno costretto a terra prima di sparare una volta ad ogni gamba”.
“Questo è un attacco brutale e orribile. Questo genere di comportamenti è totalmente inaccettabile” ha aggiunto.
Nelle ore precedenti gli inquirenti stavano eseguendo le indagini sul doppio ferimento di un uomo e di sua moglie avvenuto giovedì scorso nella vicina Norglen Parade.
Peter e Marie Dorrian, entrambi cinquantenni, sono stati feriti da tre uomini penetrati nella loro abitazione.
Peter Dorrian è stato ferito tre volte alla gamba mentre a sua moglie Marie hanno sparato alla caviglia.

Man shot in both legs in west Belfast paramilitary-style attack
A man has been shot in both legs in west Belfast in a paramilitary-style attack which police have described as “brutal”.
The victim, who is in his twenties, is in a stable condition in hospital after being shot at around 10pm on Tuesday in Turf Lodge.
It happened on the Monagh Road and is the third such attack in the area in the past week. Police said this morning that the victims were not connected.
Chief Superintendent Chris Noble said it was too early to say if the recent shootings were linked but dissident republican involvement was a line of inquiry.
Detective Inspector Richard Thornton said the man was walking along Monagh Road, close to shops, when he was stopped by two men who “forced him onto the ground before shooting him once in each leg”.
“This is a brutal, callous and horrific attack. This type of behaviour is totally and absolutely unacceptable,” he added.
Hours earlier police had been carrying out enquiries in the neighbourhood into the shooting of a husband and wife last Thursday in nearby Norglen Parade.
Peter and Marie Dorrian, both in their fifties, were shot by three men who came to their home.
Mr Dorrian was shot in the leg three times while his wife was shot in the ankle.
