Uomo fermato per attacco contro Massereene Barracks

Un uomo è stato fermato dagli investigatori che indagano sull’omicidio di due soldati avvenuto all’esterno di una base militare in Irlanda del Nord ad inizio anno.

A marzo i genieri Mark Quinsey, 23 anni di Birmingham, e Patrick Azimkar, 21 anni di Londra, furono colpiti a morte ai cancelli della caserma dell’esercito di Massereene, ad Antrim, mentre attendevano la consegna di pizze.

Il 44enne, trattenuto dalla polizia nel Nord da ieri sera, viene anche interrogato sul tentato omicidio di altre 5 persone nello stesso attacco del 7 marzo, rivendicato in seguito dalla Real IRA e che avvenne due giorni prima dell’uccisione di un poliziotto a Craigavon da parte della Continuity IRA.

Un uomo, Colin Duffy, è già stato accusato per i due omicidi.

Man held over barracks murder

A man has been arrested by detectives investigating the murders of two soldiers outside a military base in Northern Ireland earlier this year.

Sappers Mark Quinsey (23) from Birmingham and Patrick Azimkar (21) from London were shot dead at the gates of Massereene Army barracks in March as they waited for a pizza delivery.

The 44-year-old man, detained by police in in the North last night, was also questioned about the attempted murder of five other people in the same gun attack on March 7th which was later claimed by the Real IRA and which took place two days before a policeman was shot dead by the Continuity IRA in Craigavon, Co Armagh.

One man has already been been charged with the two murders.
