Man charged over prison protest
A 33-year-old man has been charged with offences connected to last month’s protest outside Maghaberry Prison in Lisburn.
Family and legal visits to the high security jail were cancelled for two days due to a protest organised by friends and relatives of republican prisoners over inmates’ conditions.
The man has been charged with aggravated trespass, two counts of criminal damage, attempted criminal damage and possession of fireworks.
He is due to appear at Lisburn Magistrates’ Court on 9 January.
