La BBC ha ottenuto le immagini dello scoppio di una bomba in una banca di Derry avvenuto lo scorso sabato pomeriggio
Le immagini riprese da telecamere a circuito chiuso mostrano le finestra sventrate e i detriti sparati a lunga distanza.
La bomba era contenuta in una sacca da viaggio gettata da uomini a volto coperto all’interno dell’edificio. La polizia aveva sgomberato la zona e l’ordigno è esploso un’ora dopo.
Per l’attacco la polizia ed i politici ritengono responsabili i gruppi repubblicani, ma non è giunta alcuna rivendicazione.
Il presidente della camera di commercio, che ha visto il filmato dell’esplosione, ha condannato l’attacco.
Ha affermato Padraig Kavanagh: “E’ un danno. Nessuno desidera che questo sia associato al nome della città.
“Il sangue, sudore e lacrime che la gente sta spendendo adesso serve solo per costruire la nostra prosperità futura. Questo è diametralmente l’opposto”.

Derry bank bomb CCTV footage shown
The BBC has obtained exclusive pictures of a bomb exploding in a bank in Londonderry last Saturday afternoon.
The CCTV footage shows the windows being blown out and debris being scattered over a wide area.
The bomb was contained in a hold-all thrown into the building by masked men. Police cleared the area and it exploded an hour later.
The ceilings of the building collapsed and the electrical wiring will have to be replaced.
The attack has been blamed on dissident republicans.
The president of the chamber of commerce, who has viewed the CCTV footage, has condemned the bombing.
Padraig Kavanagh said: “It’s very damaging. Nobody wants this to be the association that springs to mind when people think of the city.
“The blood, sweat and tears that people are expending now are all about building for our future prosperity. This is the opposite of that.”
