Man ‘stable’ after petrol bomb attack
A 45-year-old man is in a “serious but stable” condition in hospital after being struck by a lit petrol bomb in Londonderry’s Waterside.
Two youths smashed a window of the house at Ben Varden Avenue on Friday at 11.10pm and threw the petrol bomb inside, striking the man.
The victim was rescued by neighbours.
A police statement said: “He was then taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries which were initially thought to be life threatening.
“His condition is currently described as serious but stable.”
The male youths were dressed in grey hooded tops with scarves over their faces.
Police said that it is believed that they made off in the direction of Dervock Place.
