West Belfast: adolescente arrestato per allarme bomba

Teen arrested over bomb alert at PSNI station

A teenage boy has been arrested over a bomb alert at a police station in west Belfast, which has turned out to be an “elaborate hoax”.

Army bomb disposal experts attended the scene at Woodbourne PSNI station on Tuesday afternoon after a suspicious object sparked a security alert.

Four homes had to be evacuated and the Stewartstown Road was closed at its junctions with Blacks Road and Suffolk Road while a controlled explosion was carried out.

But police have since declared the incident to have been an elaborate hoax.

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the alert.

A PSNI spokesman said he is “assisting police with their enquiries at Musgrave Police Station”.

The road has since reopened and residents have been able to return to their homes.
