Un cinquantaduenne è stato arrestato dopo il ritrovamento, a West Belfast, di pistole, munizioni e presunte componenti di una bomba
La polizia ha eseguito ricerche mirate in Forest Street, vicino a Springfield Avenue a West Belfast, nella serata di sabato.
Gli artificieri dell’esercito britannico sono stati inviati precauzionalmente nell’area per esaminare presunti componenti di una pipe bomb.
Alcuni residenti sono stati costretti a lasciare la propria abitazione alle 4 del mattino, per permettere approfonditi esami.
La Sala di Cavendish Street è stata aperta nel cuore della notte per ospitare le persone evacuate.
Il sergente PSNI Kenneth Lackey ha aggiunto: “Tutti gli elementi sono stati portati via per ulteriori esami.
“L’uomo arrestato resta in custodia e sta aiutando la polizia con le indagini”.
I residenti sono potuti rientrare nelle proprie abitazioni intorno alle 6.

Arrest over guns and bomb parts find
A 52-year-old man has been arrested after guns, ammunition and suspected bomb parts were found in a house in west Belfast.
Police carried out searches in Forest Street, off Springfield Avenue, on Saturday night.
Army bomb disposal experts were called into the area as a precaution to examine suspected pipe bomb components.
A number of residents were forced to leave their homes at around 4am on Sunday morning, to allow examinations to take place.
Cavendish Street Hall was opened to house those affected.
Detective Sergeant Kenneth Leckey added: “All items have now been removed for further examination.
“The arrested man remains in custody at this time assisting police with their enquiries.”
Residents were allowed to return to their home at around 6am and police have left the area.
