Il nuovo partito unionista Protestant Coalition si presenterà alle elezioni, afferma Willie Frazer.
Frazer, membro dell’ultimo partito politico unionista nato in Irlanda del Nord, ha dichiarato che la Coalizione “sfiderà il DUP” – dopo aver affermato in precedenza che il partito non avrebbe partecipato alle elezioni.
Frazer si trovava all’Hotel Killyhevlin a Enniskillen, sede della conferenza primaverile del DUP avvenuta oggi (ieri, Ndt), dove ha avuto una discussione con uno dei sostenitori del partito.
L’attivista lealista, che ha affermato di essere lì per incontrare la famiglia e non per protestare, ha dibattuto con il sostenitore del DUP sulla decisione del partito di condividere il governo con lo Sinn Féin.
Dopo che il leader del DUP Peter Robinson ha osservato nel suo discorso che in precedenza la Protestant Coalition aveva detto di non presentarsi alle elezioni, Frazer ha affermato che il partito intende “fornire un’alternativa”.
Parlando con impartialreporter.com, Frazer ha spiegato: “Sì, lo faranno. Dove ci sarà una apertura, si candideranno alle elezioni. Questo deve essere chiarito. Vogliamo il TUV, vogliamo il PUP, vogliamo gente unionista in quei partiti, li vogliamo vedere farsi avanti ma dove non lo faranno noi ci saremo”.
“Stiamo andando a presentare un’alternativa; diciamo al TUV, al PUP, all’Unionist Party: venite al punto, iniziate a lottare, iniziate a battervi per le questioni che vogliamo risolvere, lottate per le vittime. Se farete queste cose, vi sosterremo… se non lo faranno, ci presenteremo e sfideremo il DUP o chiunque sia presente in quell’area” ha spiegato.

THE new Protestant Coalition will stand for election, says Willie Frazer.
Mr Frazer, who is a member of Northern Ireland’s latest political party, has declared the Coalition “will take on the DUP” — days after saying the party would not.
He made his comments outside the Killyhevlin Hotel in Enniskillen, the venue for today’s DUP spring conference, where he got into an argument with one of the party’s supporters.
The loyalist campaigner, who said he was meeting family at the hotel and not protesting, argued with the DUP supporter over the party’s decision to share government with Sinn Fein.
After DUP leader Peter Robinson remarked in his speech earlier today that the Coalition would not be standing for election, Mr Frazer said the party intended to “put an alternative there.”
Speaking to impartialreporter.com, Mr Frazer said: “Oh yes, they will. Where there is an opening they will stand for election. That needs to be cleared up. We want the TUV, we want the PUP, we want unionist people to stand in those parties, we want them to come forward but where they don’t do it we will stand.”
“We are going to put an alternative there; we are saying to the TUV, the PUP, the Unionist Party, come up to the mark, start fighting your corner, start fighting the issues that we want addressed, start standing up for victims. If you do these things we will support you… if they are not doing that we will stand and we will take on the DUP or whoever is standing in that area,” he said.
