Willie Frazer a Stormont per i fondi di FAIR

Willie Frazer ha incontrato quattro partiti di Stormont, dove si è recato insieme a una delegazione di vittime dei Troubles

Tra le diverse questioni sollevate la denuncia che l’Ufficio del Primo Ministro e del Vice Primo Ministro (Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister – OFMDFM) sia intervenuto per frenare i finanziamenti disponibili per il gruppo Families Acting for Innocent Relatives (FAIR).

Sia Frazer che gli altri membri della delegazione “chiederanno un’indagine indipendente” sulla questione.

Willie Frazer ha detto: “Ci è stato detto da un finanziatore che l’OFMDFM intervenuto affermando che il FAIR non andava finanziato. I funzionati dell’OFMDFM hanno detto ai finanziatori di non allorcarci più soldi.

“Questo è successo dopo che le indagini su FAIR non hanno scoperto assolutamente nulla e la PSNI ha assolto il gruppo da ogni accusa.

“La questione deve essere completamente indagata”.

Questa è solo una delle questioni sollevate da Willie Frazer e dalla delegazione di 60 persone nell’incontro con Ulster Unionist, SDLP, DUP e TUV. È stato chiesto anche un incontro con Alliance Party.

Willie Frazer to raise FAIR funding cuts issue at Stormont

Willie Frazer is expected to meet with a quartet of parties at Stormont today, as part of a delegation of Troubles victims.

Among the issues he plans to raise is a claim that the Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister (OFMDFM) had intervened to curb the funding available to Families Acting for Innocent Relatives (FAIR).

He said in a statement that he and the others in attendance will “demand an independent investigation” into the matter.

Mr Frazer said: “We have been told by one funder the OFMDFM intervened in this matter stating FAIR was not to be funded. OFMDFM officials told funders not to allocate us any more money.

“That happened after investigations into FAIR uncovered absolutely nothing and the PSNI absolving the group of any wrongdoing.

“This issue must be fully investigated”.

It is just one of a handful of matters Mr Frazer wants to bring up when he visits with a roughly 60-strong delegation. He is expected to meet the Ulster Unionists, SDLP, DUP and TUV. A meeting with the Alliance Party was also requested.
