Anche David Cameron a Dublino insieme alla Regina

Downing Street ha confermato che anche il primo ministro David Cameron visiterà la Repubblica d’Irlanda in concomitanza con la prima visita di Stato della Regina

Sarà la prima visita ufficiale di Cameron in Irlanda dopo aver assunto il ruolo di primo ministro.

Mercoledì si incontrerà con il Taoiseach Enda Kenny presso gli edifici governativi di Dublino, per colloqui faccia a faccia.

Kenny ha descritto Cameron come un amico e ha detto di accogliere positivamente l’arrivo della sua controparte britannica a Dublino per le loro discussioni.

“Sono molto felice di aver avuto il sostegno del nostro amico Cameron e del suo governo, che è stato uno dei primi ad offrire un accordo per un prestito bilaterale con l’Irlanda”, ha affermato.

Il primo ministro irlandese ha detto che discuteranno di questioni europee, della costruzione della nuova assemblea nordirlandese e sul potenziale sviluppo dell’economia di tutta l’Irlanda.

La Regina sarà a Dublino la prossima settimana per incontrare la presidente Mary McAleese, per deporre una corona di fiori al Giardino della Memoria e per un tour del Croke Park.

Pochi giorni dopo, il 23 maggio, è atteso in Irlanda il presidente americano Barack Obama. Il giorno seguente sarà in visita a Londra.

Le visite di alto profilo hanno imposto la creazione di operazioni di sicurezza senza precedenti.

Cameron in Dublin during Queen visit

Downing Street has confirmed Prime Minister David Cameron will visit the Republic of Ireland next week, to take part in the Queen’s historic first state visit to the country.

This will be Mr Cameron’s first visit to Ireland since taking office last year.

He will meet Taoiseach Enda Kenny at Dublin’s Government Buildings on Wednesday for face-to-face talks.

Mr Kenny described Mr Cameron as a friend and said he was looking forward to welcoming his London counterpart to the Irish capital for their discussions.

“I am very happy to have had the support of our friend Mr Cameron, and indeed his government, which was one of the first to offer bilateral loan arrangements for Ireland,” he said.

The Taoiseach said he and Mr Cameron will discuss European issues, the make-up of the new Northern Ireland Assembly and about the potential of developing the all-island economy.

The Queen is in Dublin next week with engagements with President Mary McAleese, a wreath laying ceremony at the Garden of Remembrance and a tour of Croke Park.

US President Barack Obama is expected to arrive in Ireland just days later on Monday 23 May, the day before he visits London.

The series of high-profile visits has sparked unprecedented security operations.
