Aaron Bolger, from Killarden, was shot through both thighs in the shocking event in the Regency Hotel.
The 25-year-old was one of three men shot after six gunmen stormed a boxing weigh-in event in the hotel’s function room.
It’s understood a bullet obliterated his femur, causing extreme damage to his artery and the bone.
The other injured victim – Sean McGovern from Captain’s Road in Crumlin – is understood to be in a serious but stable condition in the Mater Hospital.
He was shot in the stomach.
McGovern (30) reportedly tried to sign himself out of hospital yesterday.
Gangland kingpin David Byrne – from Raleigh Square in Crumlin in the south of the city – was blasted in the head and leg in the reception area of the busy hotel.
Byrne – a first cousin of ‘Fat’ Freddie Thompson – was suspected of involvement in the importation of large amounts of drugs into Ireland.
