Lunedì 8 febbraio un uomo è stato ucciso a North Strand, Dublino
La polizia irlandese ha confermato che l’omicidio è avvenuto alle 19:45 in Poplar Row, North Strand, Dublino 3.
Un uomo di circa 50 anni è morto dopo che gli hanno ripetutamente sparato.
I servizi di emergenza si sono recati sulla scena.

La polizia, An Garda Siochana, crede che almeno quattro uomini a volto coperto sono coinvolti nell’attacco. Sarebbero arrivati sulla scena del delitto a bordo di una BMW Serie 3 argento, trovata abbandonata poco dopo in St Patricks Parade a Drumcondra.
L’omicidio giunge dopo che un gruppo di sei uomini armato di fucili d’assalto AK47 e pistole hanno aperto il fuoco all’interno del Regency Hotel di Swords, Dublino, venerdì pomeriggio.
Tre persone furono ferite dai proiettili. David Byrne, 32 anni, colpito alla testa e ad una gamba è morto nella reception dell’albergo in cui si stavano effettuando le operazioni di pesatura di due pugili.
Entrambi gli episodi sarebbero collegati ad una faida tra bande rivali.
Rispondendo alle notizie dell’ultima sparatoria, il ministro della Giustizia Frances Fitzgerald ha detto: “La sparatoria fatale di questa sera a Dublino è un altro deplorevole esempio della spietatezza dei criminali. Sembra che alcune bande stiano intraprendendo una faida nella quale la vita umana non conta nulla.
“La Gardaí farà tutti i passi necessari per cercare di prevenire ulteriore spargimento di sangue, ma dobbiamo riconoscere le sfide cui è sottoposta. I membri delle bande che temono per la propria sicurezza dovrebbero andare alla polizia.
“Domani (ieri, Ndt) mi incontrerò con il Commissario della Garda e con gli ufficiali di polizia”.
Gerry Adams, leader dello Sinn Féin, ha condannato l’ultimo atto di violenza, dicendo: “I responsabili di quest’ultima sparatoria, e coloro che sono dietro al terribile attacco di venerdì al Regency Hotel, dovrebbero essere arrestati e tolti dalle nostre strade.
“La Gardaí necessita del pieno sostegno della comunità per fare questo”.
La polizia irlandese si appella a chiunque fosse nell’area al momento dell’attacco mortale.

Man shot dead in Dublin city
A man has been shot dead in the North Strand, in Dublin city on Monday evening.
Gardaí have confirmed that the shooting took place at around 7.45pm, at Poplar Row, North Strand, Dublin 3.
A man in his 50’s died after receiving a number of gunshot wounds.
It is reported that the victim was Eddie Hutch Snr, a relative of Gerry Hutch.
Emergency services were at the scene.

Gardaí believe that at least four masked men were involved in the incident. It is understood that they arrived at the scene in a Silver 3 Series BMW which was found abandoned on St Patricks Parade, Drumcondra a short time later.
The killing comes after a group of up to six men armed with AK-47s and handguns opened fire after storming into the Regency Hotel in Swords last Friday afternoon.
Three people were hit including 32-year-old David Byrne, who died from his injuries.
The shootings are believed to be linked to a gangland feud.
Responding to the news of the latest shooting, Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald TD said: “Tonight’s fatal shooting in Dublin is another deplorable example of the ruthlessness of gangland criminals. It seems that some gangs are intent on waging a feud where human life counts for nothing.
“The Gardaí will take all necessary steps to try to prevent further bloodshed but we have to recognise the challenges they face. Members of gangs who have fears for their safety should come forward to the Gardaí.
“I will be meeting with the Garda Commissioner and her senior officers tomorrow.”
Sinn Féin Leader Gerry Adams also condemned the latest act of violence, saying: “Those behind this latest shooting, and those behind the dreadful attack last Friday at the Regency Hotel, must be apprehended and taken off our Streets.
“The Gardaí need the fullest possible support from the community in their efforts to do this.”
