Derry: adolescenti terrorizzati da uomini armati che bussano alla porta di casa

Una donna ha descritto come i suoi nipoti sono stati affrontati da uomini armati e a volto coperto che hanno poi aperto il fuoco all’esterno della loro abitazione

L’attacco è avvenuto martedì sera intorno alle 22:30, quando i due uomini armati si sono presentati in un’abitazione di Cornshell Fields alla ricerca di un uomo.

Il figlio e la figlia dell’uomo hanno risposto che non era in casa, quindi i due uomini hanno sparato contro un’autovettura e un carrello per cavalli.

Moya Healey ha detto che i suoi nipoti sono rimasti terrorizzati dall’agguato.

Ha raccontato che gli uomini sono entrati nella casa del figlio attraverso la porta secondaria sul retro.

Nessuno è rimasto ferito nell’attacco ma la Healey ha detto che la coppia ha “distrutto le giornate” dei suoi nipoti.

Raymond McCartney, Sinn Fein, ha condannato l’attacco, nel corso del quale degli adolescenti – di 17 e 12 anni – sono rimasti traumatizzati e dei colpi di arma da fuoco sono stati esplosi “indiscriminatamente” per strada.

Il parlamentare afferma: “Questa sembra essere una copia – nel fine settimana abbiamo avuto un incidente simile a Creggan.

“Sanno che la gente in città non ha tempo per quello che stanno facendo.

“Penso che con questi incidenti «cattura-titoli» stiano cercando di rendersi importanti, quando invece non lo sono”, aggiunge McCartney.

Londonderry teenagers ‘terrified’ by gun attack on home

A woman has described how her teenage grandchildren were confronted by armed and masked men who opened fire outside their Londonderry home.

The attack happened at about 2230 BST on Tuesday night when the two gunmen went to a house in Cornshell Fields looking for a man.

The man’s teenage son and daughter said he was not at home and the men fired shots at a car and horse-trailer.

Moya Healey said her grandchildren had been left terrified by the ordeal.

She said the gunmen entered her son’s house through the back door.

No-one was injured in the attack but Ms Healey said the pair had “scared the living daylights” out of her grandchildren.

Sinn Fein’s Raymond McCartney condemned the attack during which he said children had been traumatised and shots had been fired “indiscriminately” in the street.

The MLA said: “This seems to be a pattern – at the weekend we had a similar incident in Creggan.

“They know the people in the city have absolutely no time for what they are doing.

“I think what they are doing with these type of headline-grabbing incidents is trying to make themselves relevant, when in actual fact they are not,” he added.
