Elezioni Westminster: iniziato il conteggio in Irlanda del Nord

I seggi elettorali in tutto il Nordirlanda sono chiusi. Migliaia di persone hanno votato per le elezioni generali

Per la prima volta nella regione, il conteggio ha luogo subito dopo la chiusura dei seggi e i primi risultati sono attesi intorno a mezzanotte. Ci sono 120 addetti al conteggio in ogni circoscrizione, contro gli 0 delle precedenti elezioni.

108 candidati in Irlanda del Nord sono divisi in 18 circoscrizioni. Il più votato in ciascuna circorscizione verrà eletto a Westminster.

Le operazioni di voto si sono aperte alle 7 di giovedì mattina.

Il leader del DUP Peter Robinson è stato circondato da telecamere e fotografi quando è arrivato al seggio elettorale di Dundonald.

Anche Gerry Adams è stato circondato dai media a West Belfast.

La numero uno di SDLP, Margaret Ritchie, ha espresso il suo voto la mattina presto a Crossgar.

Sir Reg Empey, leader dell’Ulster Unionist Party, ha votato questo pomeriggio a East Belfast.

Prendendo i primi exit poll nazionali, il Regno Unito non avrebbe un partito con la maggioranza assoluta dei seggi, quindi il risultato dell’Irlanda del Nord è molto importante.

Election counts begin in NI

Polling stations across Northern Ireland are now closed with thousands of people having cast their vote in the General Election.

For the first time in the region, counting will now take place through the night and the first results are expected at around 12am.There are 120 counters in each constituency, as opposed to 80 in previous elections.

One hundred and eight candidates are standing in Northern Ireland in 18 constituencies for the first-past-the-post ballot.

Polling stations across Northern Ireland opened at 7am on Thursday morning.

The DUP leader Peter Robinson was flanked by television cameras and photographers as he arrived to cast his vote in Dundonald on Thursday morning.

The Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams was also surrounded by the media as he voted in his West Belfast constituency.

The SDLP leader Margaret Ritchie was up early to vote in Crossgar.

The Ulster Unionist leader Sir Reg Empey cast his vote in East Belfast in the afternoon.

Nationally, final opinion polls indicated the UK is heading for a hung parliament which would make the Northern Ireland’s results all the more important.
