Un ordigno in grado di esplodere è stato ritrovato durante l’allarme sicurezza lanciato nella zona di New Lodge, a North Belfast
Un’esplosione controllata è stata compiuta dagli artificieri dell’esercito e i resti dell’ordigno sono stati portati via per ulteriori analisi.
I residenti sono rientrati nelle abitazioni poco dopo. E’ la seconda volta che un ordigno è stato lasciato nella zona negli ultimi mesi.
Il 23 dicembre, 50 abitazioni nella stessa strada sono state evacuate dopo il ritrovamento di quella che la polizia ha definito un ordigno “artigianale ma funzionante”.
La parlamentare dello Sinn Fein Caral Ni Chuilin definisce “noncuranti” gli autori del gesto.
“La gente responsabile deve farsi avanti e spiegare le proprie azioni… non c’è sostegno per quanto stanno facendo.
“E’ una situazione grave. Sarebbe potuto essere peggio se l’ordigno fosse esploso”.

Viable device found in north Belfast alert
A device found during a security alert in the New Lodge area of north Belfast was viable, police have confirmed.
A controlled explosion was carried out and the device was taken away for examination.
Residents were later allowed to return to their homes. It is the second time a device has been left in the area in recent months.
On 23 December, 50 homes in the same street were evacuated after what police described as a “crude but viable” device was found.
Sinn Fein MLA Caral Ni Chuilin said those behind the attack were “reckless”.
“The people responsible need to come forward and explain their actions… there is no support for what they are doing.
“It was a serious situation. It could have been a lot worse had that device gone off.”
