Un allarme sicurezza è stato lanciato a West Belfast, dopo il ritrovamento di un oggetto sospetto presso gli uffici di un gruppo comunitario. Secondo la polizia si tratterebbe un “finto ordigno”
Gli artificieri dell’esercito britannico e la PSNI si sono recati martedì mattina fuori dagli uffici del Community Restorative Justice Ireland in Andersonstown Road.
Alcuni esercizi commerciali e le abitazioni nelle vicinanze sono state evacuate e Andersonstown Road è stata chiusa al traffico dall’incrocio con Dummisk Park, Moorland Park, Slemish Way e St. Agnes’s Drive.
Tuttavia il presunto ordigno è stato dichiarato “innocuo” dalla polizia e le strade sono state riaperte.
Harry Maguire, direttore del Community Restorative Justice Ireland, riferisce che il presunto ordigno era stato lasciato presso la saracinesca principale dell’ufficio.
“Nel corso degli anni abbiamo ricevuto molte minacce contro di noi provenienti da differenti parti, a causa del lavoro che svolgiamo”, afferma.
“Siamo un gruppo comunitario per la risoluzione del conflitto che sfida il crimine ed i comportamenti anti-sociali e siamo diventati bersagli a causa di questo lavoro”.
Maguire descrive l’organizzazione come “un gruppo di dialogo” che contrasta il comportamento negativo nella comunità, compreso lo spaccio di droga ed i crimini sessuali.

West Belfast alert ‘a hoax’
A security alert, sparked in west Belfast after the discovery of a suspect object at a community group’s office, has been declared “a hoax” by police.
Army bomb officers and police attended the scene on Tuesday morning outside Community Restorative Justice Ireland‘s office on Andersonstown Road.
A number of businesses and homes in the vicinity were evacuated and Andersonstown Road was closed at its junction with Dunmisk Park, Moorland Park, Slemish Way and St. Agnes’s Drive.
However, the device was later confirmed as “a hoax” by police and the road has now re-opened.
Harry Maguire, acting director of Community Restorative Justice Ireland, said the device was left on the front shutter of the office.
“We have had many sorts of threats levelled against us through different sources over the years because of the work we do,” he said.
“We’re a community conflict resolution group that challenges crime and anti-social behaviour and we would see ourselves being targeted because of that work.”
He described the organisation as “a dialogue group” which challenged negative behaviour within the community including drug dealing and sex crime investigations.
