Criminalisation Resisted
The IRPWA and the 32CSM would like to thank all Republican activists and supporters who campaigned for Gary’s return to the wing which holds Republican Prisoners.
The events of past week and Gary’s return to the wing smashes any illusion that may remain surrounding the bogus threats against Republicans which we are convinced emanated from elements of British intelligence and their dirty tricks department.
The purpose of these dirty tricks, whether they were an attempt to create confusion or part of a more sinister agenda can only be speculated upon.
However, the united approach shown by republicans over the past week has dispelled as nonsense the attempt by our enemies to portray Republicanism as divided.
Whist we are relieved that Gary has been return to his comrades, we are still increasingly mindful of the conditions of all Republican prisoners which are becoming more and more intolerable by the day.
The British occupational forces continue their war against Republican prisoners away from the public glare in the most brutal fashions.
Republican prisoners have been attacked by Crown prison personnel, one sustaining a serious injury to his arm after a dog which was set on him, mauled him.
Republican prisoners are routinely striped searched, have visits denied and have been denied association and basic human rights.
When challenged the British prison officials conveniently quote “staff shortages” as an excuse, however, there is never staff shortages when it comes to brutalising prisoners as dozens of riot squad personnel are at hand in a matter of minutes.
The IRPWA will continue to campaign, protest and agitate on behalf of republican prisoners and call on all Republicans especially ex- Pow’s to lend their support.
