La voce di Jim Allister, TUV, “prenderà slancio”

Il leader del TUV Jim Allister dice che la sua sarà una voce che “prenderà slancio” a Stormont, nonostante sia l’unico rappresentate del suo partito

Allister, che ha conquistato il seggio nella circoscrizione di North Natrim, ha parlato a lungo del suo desiderio di operare come “opposizione” a Stormont.

Tuttavia, come unico rappresentante del TUV tra i 108 parlamentari, dovrà lottare per far sentire la sua voce.

“Sarà una voce molto forte perché la causa che sosteniamo è giusta e deve essere ascoltata”, ha spiegato.

“E’ stata in silenzio per troppo tempo e penso prenderà slancio”.

Allister – che ha cnquistato 4.061 voti di prima preferenza – è stato eletto nonostante non sia riuscito a raggiungere la quota, mentre il suo ex partito, il DUP, ha vinto le elezioni.

Per Allister la bassa affluenza ha giocato il suo ruolo, aggiungendo: “Non è importante come entri a Stormont, ma quello che fai là e io so cosa farò.

“Ho una missione. Sarò una spina nel fianco della coalizione DUP/Sinn Fein. Come vedete la mia elezione li ha lasciati sofferenti”.

Allister voice will ‘gain momentum’

TUV leader Jim Allister says his will be a strong voice that “gains momentum” at Stormont, despite being the party’s only representative.

Mr Allister, who took a seat in the North Antrim constituency, has long spoken of his desire to be an ‘Opposition’ at Stormont.

However, as the lone TUV representative amongst 108 MLAs, there have been suggestions that he will struggle to make his voice heard.

“I’ll be a strong voice because the cause we have is right and needs to be made,” he argued.

“It has been silent too long and as it is made I think it will gain momentum.”

Mr Allister – who picked up 4,061 first preference votes – was elected despite failing to reach the quota, while his former party the DUP topped the poll.

He said low voter turnout played its part, adding: “It’s not how you get to Stormont it’s what you do when you get there and I know what I will do.

“I have a mission. I will be a thorn in the side of the DUP/Sinn Féin coalition. As you can see my election has left them smarting.”
