Martin McGuinness pronto a diventare primo ministro. Anche in condivisione

L’attuale vice primo ministro Martin McGuinness ha annunciato che lo Sinn Fein è pronto a condividere il ruolo di primo ministro con il DUP qualora il partito vinca le elezioni di maggio

“Se l’elettorato sceglierà Sinn Fein e DUP come i partiti più votati, sono pronto a prendere in considerazione il titolo di «Joint First Minister» (Primo ministro Condiviso) oppure entrambi potremo essere nominato primi ministri”, ha riferito a Utv.

“Avrebbe senso se potremo accordarci, e se lo Sinn Fein sarà il partito più votato allora sarà qualcosa che prenderò in considerazione.

“La realtà è che in questo mandato dell’Assemblea Peter (Robinson) ed io abbiamo esattamente gli stessi poteri e la stessa autorità”.

Ken Reid, l’esperto di politica di Utv, afferma che “le probaibilità, secondo i bookmakers, vedrebbero ancora il DUP come il principale partito”.

McGuinness ha detto di non avere ancora discusso l’idea con l’attuale primo ministro, Peter Robinson.

Le elezioni per l’Assemblea di Stormont si terranno il prossimo 5 maggio.

McGuinness ready to share First Minister job

Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness has announced that Sinn Féin is prepared to share the First Minister role with the DUP, should the party top the polls in May, UTV can reveal.

“If the electorate return Sinn Féin and the DUP as the largest party, I would be prepared to give consideration to the title of ‘Joint First Minister’, or both First Minister,” he told UTV.

“It would make sense if we would be able to agree that, and if Sinn Féin were the largest party that is something I will consider.

“The reality is that this term of the Assembly, Peter (Robinson) and I have got exactly the same powers and authority.”

“The odds are still, according to the bookmakers, that the DUP will be the largest party,” Ken Reid said.

Mr McGuinness said he has not yet discussed the idea with current First Minister Mr Robinson.

The assembly elections in Northern Ireland are to be held on 5 May.
