La polizia, durante le ricerche nella zona di Drumbeg a Craigavon , Co Armagh, è stata attaccata con bombe molotov
La polizia stava svolgendo una ricerca in una proprietà ritenuta legata ad un’indagine in corso sull’attività repubblicana, quando è stata attaccata con laci di bottiglie molotov.
Questo è il terzo incidente nella zona in due anni.
“E’ vergognoso che, mentre forniva un servizio alla comunità, un uomo abbia avuto il suo veicolo di lavoro rubato e bruciato in pieno giorno”, afferma la parlamentare dello SDLP Dolores Kelly.
“La comunità è disgustato per la cattiva luce in cui è stata messa la loro area, ancora una volta da pochi eletti che sono intenti ad essere distruttivi e irresponsabili così come a mettere a rischio la vita di persone innocenti.
“Se questi episodi continuano funzionari di enti pubblici avranno paura ad andare in alcune zone ed è la popolazione bisognosa che soffrirà maggiormente.
“Alla fine del giorno il costo reale di questi incidenti ricade sul contribuente in un momento di grave tensione economica sia per il settore pubblico chee privato. ”
Il parlamentare shinner di Upper Bann John O’Dowd ha anche biasimato i responsabili dell’incidente.
” La comunità di Tullgally ha lavorato sodo e senza sosta con il Brownlow Neighbourhood Renewal Board, il Craigavon Council e altri organismi statutari per rigenerare la loro zona e sono riusciti in questo sforzo. Questi attivisti della comunità sono la rappresentazione vera di questa area e non gli individui reazionari che incendiano veicoli da lavoro utilizzati per fornire un servizio alla comunità locale” ha detto.
“I signori della politica ed i raggruppamenti politici che in passato hanno sostenuto il tentativo di isolare questa comunità dai benefici di cui gode il resto della società, dovrebbero guardare gli effetti di questa distruzione gratuita e alzarsi e dare una guida adeguata ai loro seguaci”.
Agli automobilisti è stato consigliato di evitare la zona intorno alle rotatorie di Drumbeg e Monbrief a Craigavon.

Police petrol-bombed in Craigavon
Police carrying out searches in the Drumbeg area of Craigavon, Co Armagh, have been attacked with petrol bombs.
Police say they were carrying out a search of a property believed to be linked to an ongoing investigation into dissident republican activity, when they came under attack from petrol bombers.
This is the third incident in the area in two years.
“It is disgraceful that a man out providing a service to the community has had his work vehicle hijacked and burnt out in broad daylight,” SDLP MLA Dolores Kelly said.
“The local community are sickened that their area has been brought into disrepute yet again by a select few who are intent on being destructive and reckless as well as putting the lives of innocent people at risk.
“If these incidents continue public sector agencies will become afraid to go into certain areas and it is the people in need who will suffer most.
“At the end of the day the real cost of these incidents falls on the taxpayer at a time of serious economic strain on both the public and private sector.”
Upper Bann Sinn Fein MLA John O’Dowd has also lambasted those responsible for the incident.
“The Tullgally community has worked hard and tirelessly with the Brownlow Neighbourhood Renewal Board, Craigavon Council and other statutory agencies to regenerate their area and they have been successful in this effort. These community activists are the true representation of this area, not those reactionary individuals who burnt work vehicles that were delivering a service to the local community,” he said.
“The political masters and the political groupings that have in the past supported the attempts to isolate this community from the benefits enjoyed by the rest of society should look at the effects of this wanton destruction and stand up and give proper leadership to their own followers.”
Drivers were advised to avoid the area around the Drumbeg and Monbrief roundabouts in Craigavon.
