Niente nazionale per uno dei responsabili dei cori settari

Il ministro per lo Sport ha accolto positivamente la “ferma risposta” dell’IFA di imporre un allontanamento a vita per il tifoso nordirlandese identificato a cantare canzoni settarie a Dublino

L’associazione ha detto che imporrà un divieto a vita alla frequentazione degli stadi, impedendo alla persona responsabile di ottenere i biglietti per tutte le future partite dell’Irlanda del Nord.

“L’IFA adesso ha deciso come intende trattare la questione; stanno cercando di identificare i soggetti coinvolti e penso che sia lodevole la presa di posizione per una ferma azione e mi rallegro di ciò”, ha detto Nelson McCausland.

“In questa occasione c’erano circa 6.000 tifosi a Dublino, un piccolo gruppo di circa 25 persone si è comportato molto male, è totalmente inaccettabile, ma non dobbiamo lasciare che questo sminuisca l’eccellente comportamento di tutto il resto del gruppo di tifosi”, ha aggiunto.

Alla decisione di impedire la frequentazione degli stadi si giunge dopo l’avvio di un’inchiesta sui filmati emersi su YouTube dopo la sconfitta alla Nations Cup allo Stadio Aviva di Dublino.

Sia l’IFA che l’Amalgamation of Northern Ireland Supporters Clubs affermano che il comportamento del piccolo numero di tifosi è stato inappropriato.

Ora si conosce il nome di una delle persone coinvolte nei cori settari.

Una volta che il nome verrà confermato, l’IFA ha detto che il divieto di entrare allo stadio a vita sarà messo in atto.

L’IFA ha detto che sta lavorando con l’Amalgamation of Northern Ireland Supporters Clubs e altri organismi per stabilire l’identità di tutti i soggetti coinvolti.

Hanno lanciato un appello per chiunque abbia informazioni a farsi avanti.

Lifetime ban on fan welcomed

The Sports Minister has welcomed the IFA’s ‘firm action’ in imposing a lifetime ban on a Northern Ireland supporter identified singing sectarian songs after a match against Scotland in Dublin last week.

The association said they will be imposing a lifetime ban to stop the person getting tickets to all future Northern Ireland games.

“The IFA has now decided on how they are going to deal with the matter, they are trying to identify individuals involved and I think it is commendable that they are taking firm action and I am pleased about that”, Nelson McCausland said.

“On this occasion there were around 6,000 supporters in Dublin, a small group of people about 25 behaved very badly, it is totally unacceptable but we must not let it detract from the excellent behaviour of the rest of that group of supporters”, he added.

It comes after an investigation was launched when footage emerged on YouTube following their defeat in the Nations Cup at the Aviva Stadium.

Both the IFA and the Amalgamation of Northern Ireland Supporters Clubs said the behaviour of the small number of fans was inappropriate.

One of those involved has now been named.

Once that name has been confirmed, the IFA said the lifetime ban will be put in place.

The IFA said it has been working with the Amalgamation of NISC and other bodies to establish the identities of all those involved.

They have appealed for anyone with further information to come forward.
