Paramilitare lealista assassinato a Belfast

Loyalist paramilitary shot dead in Belfast

Red Hand Commando member Bobby Moffat killed on Shankhill Road apparently as part of internal loyalist dispute

A senior loyalist paramilitary was shot dead at midday today on the Shankhill Road in Belfast.

The man, named locally as Bobby Moffat, is understood to have been a member of the Red Hand Commando (RHC) terrorist group.

It is believed Moffat was killed as part of an internal loyalist dispute and there was no Republican involvement.

Moffat is thought to have been in dispute with the RHC-aligned Ulster Volunteer Force.

The killing will prompt questions about the status not only of the UVF ceasefire but its claim earlier this year to have decommissioned its weapons.
