Il padre di una vittima della UVF ha ricevuto un’altra minaccia contro la propria vita
L’avvertimento è giunto poche ore dopo l’omicidio di Bobby Moffettt a Shankill Road – uccisione collegata ad una disputa personale dell’uomo con membri della UVF.
E McCord Sr ha detto a Utv di ritenere UVF responsabile delle minacce contro di lui.
Suo figlio fu ucciso dai paramilitari lealisti a North Belfast nel 1997, quando aveva 22 anni.
Da allora suo padre ha promosso una campagna per mostrare la collusione nel caso tra agenti del governo britannico e informatori di polizia.
Un rapporto dell’allora Police Ombudsman, uala O’Loan, rivelò che persone pagate dalla polizia all’interno dalla banda UVF di Mount Vernon, guidata dal lealista Mark Haddock, erano coinvolte nell’omicidio – insieme ad altri 20 assassinii.
Per McCord Sr il governo deve intraprendere azioni contro il gruppo lealista.
“Io so – e le informazioni lo dimostrano – che si tratta della UVF” ha detto a Utv.
“Non ci sono altri gruppi lealisti che si interessano di me a parte la UVF”.
Ha quindi aggiunto: “Quotidianamente in Shankill Road dei giovani subiscono intimidazioni dalla UVF.
“E’ tempo che il governo faccia qualcosa a riguardo – iniziare con l’omo al comanda, controllare le sue finanze e proseguire”.

McCord Snr threatened ‘by UVF’
The father of a UVF murder victim, Raymond McCord, has received another threat against his life.
It comes just hours after the murder of Bobby Moffettt on the Shankill Road – a killing which has been linked to a personal dispute involving elements of the UVF.
And Mr McCord Snr has told UTV he believes the UVF are behind the threats against him.
His son was murdered by the loyalist paramilitaries in north Belfast in 1997, aged 22.
His father has since led a lengthy campaign to expose collusion in the case, between British Government agents and police informers.
A report by the then Police Ombudsman Nuala O’Loan revealed that paid police agents in the Mount Vernon UVF gang led by senior loyalist Mark Haddock were involved in the killing – with up to 20 others.
Mr McCord Snr says the government needs to take action against the loyalist group.
“I know – and intelligence indicates – that it was the UVF,” he told UTV.
“There is no other loyalist group that has any interest in me apart from the UVF.”
He added: “It’s a daily occurrence in the Shankill Road that young people are being intimidated by the UVF.
“It’s time that the government did something about it – start with the man at the top, look at his finances, and work their way down.”
