Repubblicani accusati per incendio della vettura di un agente PSNI

I repubblicani vengono accusati di aver dato alle fiamme l’automobile di un poliziotto ad Enniskillen

Il veicolo, usato principalmente dalla moglie del poliziotto, è stato incendiato fuori dall’abitazione della coppia nel quartiere nazionalista di Cornagrade a Enniskillen.

L’incidente è avvenuto questa mattina e ha causato la distruzione dell’auto. Questa settimana i repubblicani che si oppongono al processo di pace hanno compiuto due attacchi con autobomba in Irlanda del Nord.

“Per fortuna l’uomo, sua moglie ed i due figli sono usciti di casa quando hanno sentito odore di fumo proveniente dall’auto parcheggiata fuori così per fortuna nessuno è rimasto ferito”, ha detto il parlamentare SDLP Tommy Gallagher.

“Questo (il poliziotto) è uno che lavora per la comunità, vive nella comunità e ha il sostegno della comunità.

“Gli individui che hanno compiuto qusto (attacco) sono disprezzati dai membri della comunità”, ha aggiunto.

Lunedì la bomba piazzata in un taxi sequestrato dalla Real IRA è esplosa all’esterno del quartier generale dell’MI5 a Palace Barracks, a Holywood. Nessuno è rimasto gravemente ferito.

Il giorno successivo gli artificieri dell’esercito hanno lavorato per neutralizzare un’altra autobomba abbandonata fuori dalla stazione di polizia di Newtownhamilton, in South Armagh.

La crescita della violenza è avvenuta simbolicamente in coincidenza con il trasferimento dei poteri su polizia e amministrazione della giustizia a Stormont.

Dissidents blamed for police car arson

Dissident republican elements have been blamed for setting fire to a policeman’s car in Enniskillen.

The vehicle, understood to be used primarily by the officer’s wife, was torched outside the couple’s home in the predominantly nationalist Cornagrade estate in the town.

The early morning arson incident, which destroyed the car, comes in the same week dissidents opposed to the peace process launched two car bomb attacks in Northern Ireland.

“Fortunately the man his wife and their two children got out of the house when they smelled the smoke from the car outside so luckily no- one was hurt,” said local MLA Tommy Gallagher.

“This is somebody who works for the community and is living in the community and has the support of the community.”

“The individuals who carried this out are despised by members of the community,” he added.

On Monday a bomb in a hijacked taxi exploded outside the MI5 headquarters at Palace Barracks in Holywood, Co Down. No one was seriously injured.

The next day Army bomb disposal officers managed to defuse another car bomb abandoned outside a police station in Newtownhamilton in south Armagh.

It is suspected the upsurge in violence was symbolically timed to coincide with the transfer of policing and justice powers to Stormont on Monday.
