Tre poliziotti sono rimasti feriti durante i gravi disordini scoppiati a North Belfast
La polizia riferisce che fino a 200 persone sono state coinvolte nei disordini.
Bottiglie molotov ed altri oggetti sono stati lanciati durante i gravi scontri.
La PSNI ha utilizzato il cannone ad acqua e sono stati sparati numerosi proiettili di gomma.
Due agenti di polizia di sesso maschile ed una poliziotta hanno subito ferite da arma da fuoco.
Uno degli agenti di polizia rimane in ospedale, anche se le sue condizioni non sono ritenute pericolose per la vita.
Altri undici ufficiali sono rimasti feriti durante i disordini a North Queen Street.
A West Belfast, 13 agenti sono rimasti feriti durante altri gravi disordini nella zona di Broadway.
Il presidente del Policing Board, Brian Rea, ha condannato i gravi riot.
“I miei pensieri sono in primo luogo con la famiglia ed i colleghi di tutti gli ufficiali che sono stati feriti, e in particolare con l’ufficiale che è ferito da un’arma da fuoco.
“Questa è una notizia molto scioccante e il livello di violenza diretta contro la polizia deve essere condannato. In questo momento, chiedo calma in tutta la comunità”, ha detto.
L’ufficio del Police Ombudsman afferma l’avvio di un’indagine perché la polizia ha sparati colpi AEP (proiettili di gomma).

Three officers shot, 24 injured in riots
Three police officers have been shot during serious rioting in north Belfast.
Police say up to 200 people were involved in the trouble.
Petrol bombs and other missiles were thrown during the serious disturbances.
The PSNI water cannon was used and several baton rounds were fired.
Two male police officers and a policewoman suffered gunshot wounds.
One of the male police officers remains in hospital, although his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
Eleven other officers were hurt during the rioting at North Queen Street.
In west Belfast, 13 officers were injured during serious disturbances in the Broadway area.
The Acting Chairman of the Policing Board, Brian Rea, condemned the serious disorder.
“My thoughts are first and foremost with the family and colleagues of all the officers who were injured; and particularly with the officer who was shot.
“This is very shocking news and the level of violence directed at police must be condemned. At this time I would call for calm right across the community,” he said.
The Police Ombudsman’s Office says an investigation has been launched because police AEP rounds were fired.
