Amici di Shoukri fiduciosi per il rilascio

Il Prison Service nega il rilascio sulla parola per l’ex leader di North Belfast dell’UDA, Andre Shoukri

Gli amici del trentaduenne ex brigadiere dell’UDA dicono che ora è compito del Northern Ireland Office segnalare la possibilità di concedere il rilascio sulla parola.

Il braccio destro di Shoukri, John ‘Bonzer’ Boreland, ha già ottenuto il permesso di un rilascio sulla parola per 48 ore dalla prigione di Maghaberry, dove sta scontando una condanna a 9 anni per ricatto, intimidazione e possesso di un’arma da fuoco o di una copia.

Boreland, di North Belfast, era stato rilasciato per 48 ore lo scorso mese ed ha trascorso la maggior parte del tempo nella zona di Newtownabbey, dove ha degli amici.

Era stato incarcerato insieme a Shoukri ed il Northern Ireland Office aveva acconsentito al rilascio sulla parola ad inizio settembre.

Shoukri ha già incontrato i membri del Probation Board in carcere e gli amici riferiscono che è stata data l’approvazione per la sua inclusione nel progetto di pre-rilascio, deciso in ultimo dal NIO.

Shoukri non sta subendo alcuna accusa disciplinare in seguito all’alterco che lo ha visto protagonista a settembre nel carcere di Maghaberry, quando fu attaccato nella sua cella.

Il criminale di West Belfast Gerard Donegan lo ha ferito ad una spalla con una stecca da biliardo rotta, prima che Shoukri riuscisse ad aggirarlo e cacciarlo dalla sua cella.

Shoukri era stato portato nella Special Segregation Unit del carcere per proteggerlo, in quanto si pensava ci fosse un piano per assassinarlo nel carcere prima della fine della sua condanna.

Comunque, in questo momento si trova nella parte principale del carcere.

“Nessuna denuncia è stata fatta contro di lui”, comunica una fonte interna al Prison Service.

Shoukri pals confident of parole vote

Former North Belfast UDA leader Andre Shoukri has been cleared for parole release by the Prison Service.

Friends of the 32-year-old former UDA Brigadier say it’s now up to the Northern Ireland Office to signal that he can join the pre-release parole scheme.

Shoukri’s sidekick John ‘Bonzer’ Boreland has already been allowed a 48-hour parole from Maghaberry Prison where he’s serving a nine-year sentence for blackmail, intimidation and the possession of an imitation or real firearm.

Boreland, from north Belfast, was released for 48 hours last month and spent most of his time in the Newtownabbey area where he has friends.

He was jailed at the same time as Shoukri and the Northern Ireland Office approved his parole in early September.

Shoukri has already met members of the Probation Board in jail and friends say approval has been given for his inclusion on the pre-release scheme subject to NIO consent.

He won’t be facing any disciplinary charges following an altercation in Maghaberry in September when he was attacked in his cell.

West Belfast criminal Gerard Donegan cut him on the shoulder with a broken pool cue before Shoukri rounded on him and chased him from his cell.

Shoukri was taken to the prison’s Special Segregation Unit for his own protection because of fears that there was a plot to kill him in jail before he completes his nine-year sentence.

However, he is now back in the mainstream part of the jail.

“No complaint has been made against him,” a Prison Service source said.
