Un uomo è stato trasportato in ospedale dopo essere stato ferito da colpi di arma da fuoco all’esterno di una scuola primaria a Craigavon
Il ferimento è avvenuto poco dopo le 15 di oggi davanti alla scuola primaria St Brendan a Moyraverty, Craigavon.
La polizia ritiene che i colpi siano stati sparati da un’automobile. L’uomo ha subito diverse ferite.
Trasportato al Craigavon Area Hospital, al momento sta ricevendo le cure per stabilizzare le ferite.
La polizia condanna l’attacco e si appella ai cittadini per informazioni.
L’Ispettore Capo Jon Burrows ha detto: “L’area era molto trafficata e penso che alcune persone possano essere state testimoni oculari di questo attacco.
“Chiediamo a chiunque abbia informazioni di contattarci al più presto.
“Non ci sono parole per descrivere la temerarietà e il completo disinteresse per la sicurezza dei bambini e dei genitori che si trovavano nella zona al momento.
“Se si dispone di informazioni, si prega di telefonare al numero 101”.
I politici locali hanno bollato la sparatoria come “deplorevole” e sconsiderata”.
Il ministro dell’Istruzione John O’Dowd, Sinn Féin, ha detto: “Questa è stata un’esperienza terrificante per gli alunni e il personale della scuola.
“Coloro che hanno sparato a quell’uomo non hanno mostrato alcun riguardo per gli alunni, i loro genitori, il personale della scuola e la comunità più ampia”.
Il parlamentare per Uppen Bann del DUP, David Simpson, ha affermato: “Questo è inaccettabile in qualsiasi caso, ma il fatto che sia avvenuto nelle vicinanze di una scuola elementare lo rende ancora più incomprensibile.
“I dettagli sono limitati al momento, ma la polizia è sul luogo dell’attacco ed esorto chiunque abbia informazioni a contattare immediatamente la PSNI”.
Dolores Kelly, parlamentare SDLP, ha detto: “Ogni violenza nelle nostre strade è inaccettabile, ma questo attacco, avvenuto fuori da una scuola mentre i bambini stavano incontrando i genitori, è assolutamente deplorevole.
“I responsabili hanno mostrato una avventatezza mozzafiato rischiando la sicurezza di questi bambini.”

Man shot outside school in Craigavon
A man has been taken to hospital after being shot outside a primary school in Craigavon, Co Armagh.
The incident happened at St Brendan’s Primary School, Moyraverty, just after 3pm on Monday.
Police said it’s believed shots were fired from a car and the man sustained a number of injuries.
He has been taken to Craigavon Area Hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.
Police have appealed for information and condemned those who carried out the attack.
Chief Inspector Jon Burrows said: “The area was very busy and we believe a number of people may have witnessed this shooting.
“We would ask anyone who has information to contact us as soon as possible so we can progress our investigation.
“There are no words to describe the foolhardiness and complete disregard for the safety of the children and parents who were in the area at the time.
“If you have information, please phone us on 101.”
Local politicians have also condemned the shooting as “deplorable” and reckless”.
Education Minister John O’Dowd, of Sinn Féin, said: “This was a terrifying experience for pupils and staff at the school.
“Those who carried out this shooting showed absolutely no regard for the pupils, their parents, school staff and the wider community.”
DUP Upper Bann MP David Simpson said: “This is totally unacceptable at any time but in broad daylight and within such close proximity to a primary school is incomprehensible.
“Details are limited at present but police are on the ground and I urge anyone with information to contact the PSNI immediately.”
SDLP Upper Bann MLA Dolores Kelly said: “All violence on our streets in unacceptable but this attack, outside a school while children were meeting their parents, was utterly deplorable.
“Those responsible showed a breath-taking recklessness with the safety of these children.”
