La polizia sta investigando su un’esplosione avvenuta nelle vicinanze di una base territoriale dell’esercito (Territorial Army)
L’area è stato cordonata mentre un ordigno sospetto, lanciato contro la caserma, viene esaminato dagli artificieri dell’esercito britannico.
Non ci dovrebbero essere feriti né danneggiamenti.
Gli agenti della scientifica stanno esaminando la zona esterna al perimetro della base.
Secondo il sito del ministero della Difesa, l’unità dei Royal Armoured Corp degli The North Irish Horse è allocata presso il Dunmore Park Camp.
Escalation
Il sito Internet afferma che i soldati del reggimento si addestrano ogni mercoledì nella base.
La consigliera dello Sinn Fein di North Belfast, Tierna Cunningham, afferma che il presunto attacco bomba è “sconsinderato e ha messo in pericolo le famiglie che abitano lì vicino”.
Il parlamentare del DUP, Nigel Dodds, riferisce che North Belfast “ha assistito ad una escalation dell’attività dei terroristi (dissidenti) repubblicani”.
C’è stato un incremento della sicurezza in tutto il Nordirlanda, dopo gli ultimi recenti provocati dai repubblicani, che si oppongono al processo di pace.
Lo scorso venerdì, a East Belfast, la compagna di un agente di polizia è stata ferita dallo scoppio di una bomba lasciata sotto alla sua vettura.
A settembre, la Real IRA aveva ammesso di aver piazzato alcuni ordigni fuori dalle abitazioni dei parenti di un poliziotto, a Derry.

Police investigate TA base ‘bomb’
Police are investigating reports of an explosion near a Territorial Army base in north Belfast.
The area has been cordoned off while a suspect device which may have been thrown at the base is examined by Army technical experts.
There are no reports of any injuries or damage.
Forensic officers are examining an area outside the perimeter of the base.
According to the MoD website, The North Irish Horse, a Royal Armoured Corp unit, is based at the Dunmore Park Camp.
‘Escalation’
The website also says soldiers from the regiment train at the base most Wednesdays.
North Belfast Sinn Fein councillor Tierna Cunningham said the apparent bomb attack was “reckless and endangered families living nearby”.
The area’s DUP MP Nigel Dodds said north Belfast had “witnessed an escalation of dissident republican terrorist activity”.
There has been an increase in security across Northern Ireland following a number of recent incidents blamed on dissident republicans, who oppose the peace process.
Last Friday, a police officer’s partner was injured when a bomb exploded under her car in east Belfast.
In September, the dissident republican Real IRA admitted leaving bombs outside the homes of relatives of a police officer in Londonderry.
