Investigatori analizzano i filmati di Brady in cella

Gli inquirenti indipendenti che analizzano il controverso suicidio di John Brady avvenuto all’interno di una stazione di polizia in Nordirlanda, hanno sequestrato i filmati a circuito chiuso dell’incidente

John Brady, 40 anni, venne trovato morto in una stanza per i colloqui nella stazione PSNI di Strand Road a Derry, lo scorso fine settimana, dopo essere stato arrestato per un’aggressione mentre era fuori dal carcere per un rilascio temporaneo.

Mentre l’importante repubblicano di Strabane si sarebbe apparentemente impiccato usando un elemento del vestiario, i membri della sua famiglia hanno rifiutato l’idea che possa essersi tolto la vita.

L’ufficio del Police Ombudsman, che sta esaminando le circostanze della morte, ha detto che i propri investigatori stanno ora osservando le registrazioni a circuito chiuso della stazione.

Almeno una telecamera controllava la stanza dove è morto Brady.

“Abbiamo sequestrato e stiamo esaminando tutte le immagini dalle telecamere a circuito chiuso che coprono il lasso di tempo da quando Brady è entrato nella stazione fino alla scoperta del suo corpo”, ha detto un portavoce dell’Ombudsman.

“Abbiamo anche recuperato tutti i documenti della polizia relativi al suo arresto e detenzione”.

Ieri repubblicani armati e a volto coperto hanno tributato onore sul feretro di Brady in un evidente dimostrazione paramilitare.

Quattro uomini con il passamontagna e l’uniforme da combattimento sono apparsi fuori da casa della sorella a Strabane e tre di loro hanno esploso un intero caricatore di pistola.

Le vittime del terrorismo hanno reagito furiosamente all’incidente e si domandano i motivi del mancato intervento della polizia.

Il portavoce del Police Ombudsman ha detto che gli investigatori stanno cercando di costruire un rapporto dettagliato degli eventi che hanno portato alla morte.

Investigators seize Brady cell footage

Independent investigators probing the disputed suicide of an IRA killer inside a police station in Northern Ireland have seized CCTV footage of the incident.

Convicted murderer John Brady, 40, was found dead in a consulting room in Strand Road PSNI station in Londonderry last weekend after being arrested on assault charges while out on temporary parole from prison.

While the prominent dissident republican from Strabane had apparently hung himself with an item of clothing, members of his family have refused to accept he took his own life.

The Police Ombudsman’s Office, which is examining the circumstances of the death, said its investigators are now reviewing closed circuit television recordings from the station.

It is understood at least one camera was in the consulting room where Brady died.

“We have seized and are examining all the police CCTV footage covering the period from when Mr Brady first entered the station until the discovery of his body,” said a spokesman from the Ombudsman’s office.

“We have also recovered all police records and documentation relating to his arrest and detention.”

Masked dissidents fired shots over Brady’s coffin yesterday in a blatant display of paramilitarism.

Four men wearing balaclavas and combat uniform appeared outside his sister’s home in Strabane and three fired a volley of shots over the coffin.

Victims of terrorism reacted furiously to the incident and questioned why police had not intervened.

The Ombudsman’s spokesman said investigators were attempting to build a detailed account of the events leading up to the death.
