Liam Adams è ricercato in Irlanda del Nord perché deve rispondere di 18 accuse per abuso sessuali, tra cui stupro, aggressione e atti osceni nei confronti di sua figlia.
Il cinquantaquattrenne, consegnatosi spontaneamente alla polizia della Repubblica d’Irlanda a marzo, sta pianificando la lotta contro l’estradizione.
Il caso dovrebbe iniziare oggi presso l’Alta Corte di Dublino.
I presunti reati contro sua figlia Aine Tyrrell, che rinunciò al suo dirotto all’anonimato lo scorso dicembre, furono compiuti tra marzo 1977 e marzo 1983.
Liam Adams ha già negato di aver lasciato l’Irlanda del Nord più di un anno fa per sfuggire al procedimento penale, parlando di timore per sé e per i suoi figli dopo che i media avevano riportato le accuse.
Ritiene inoltre di non poter avere un processo equo a Belfast.
Adams, attualmente disoccupato e abitante in una casa in affitto, è stato rilasciato su cauzione.

Liam Adams set to challenge extradition
Liam Adams is wanted in Northern Ireland to answer 18 charges of sexual abuse, including rape, indecent assault and gross indecency against his daughter.
The 54-year-old, who handed himself over to authorities in the Republic in March after a European arrest warrant was served, is planning to fight the application.
The case is due before the High Court later today.
The alleged offences against his daughter Áine Tyrell, who waived her right to anonymity last December, date from March 1977 to March 1983.
He already denied he fled Northern Ireland more than a year ago to escape prosecution but claims he feared he and his children were in danger after media reports of the allegations.
He also maintains he will not get a fair trial in Belfast.
Mr Adams, who is unemployed and living in rented accommodation, has been on bail.
