Non sono il vice, dice McGuinness

Le recenti tensioni personali tra il DUP e lo Sinn Fein sono esplose pubblicamente ieri (5 ottobre, Ndt).

Poco dopo aver detto ai giornalisti di “piegarsi all’indietro” per formare una relazione lavorativa con Peter Robinson, Martin McGuinness ha risposto alle domande rivolte all’Ufficio del Primo Ministro e del Vice Primo Ministro (Office of the First and Deputy First Ministers) in Assemblea.

Rispondendo ad una domanda posta da Simon Hamilton, del DUP, dove si parlava di McGuinness rivolgndosi a lui come “il vice”, il parlamentare shinner si è agitato.

Tra grida di “Oh!” McGuinness ha risposto: “Prima di tutto, non sono il vice.

“Sono il Vice Primo Ministro in un ministero dove c’è equità tra il Primo Ministro e me. E non dovete dimenticarlo”.

Mentre parlava in questo modo, Robinson osservava la scena dal primo banco riservato al DUP.

THE recent personal tensions between the DUP and Sinn Fein erupted in public yesterday.

Shortly after telling reporters that he had been “bending over backwards” to form a relationship with Peter Robinson, Martin McGuinness fielded questions to the Office of the First and Deputy First Ministers in the Assembly.

Responding to a question from DUP Assemblyman Simon Hamilton, who, in his question, described Mr McGuinness as “the deputy”, Mr McGuinness visibly bristled.

To cries of “Oh!”, Mr McGuinness said: “First of all, I’m not the deputy.

“I’m the Deputy First Minister in a department where there is equality between the First Minister and myself. And don’t you ever forget it.”

As he spoke, Mr Robinson watched on from his party’s back bench.
