C’è stato un “massiccio” aumento degli attacchi contro le famiglie polacche, avverte il console della Polonia in Irlanda del Nord
La scorsa settimana ci sono stati tre attacchi sempre in Mountocollyer Avenue a North Belfast, contro cittadini provenienti dalla Polonia.
Jerome Mullen, che rappresenta la comunità polacca, ha detto che il numero degli attacchi è aumentato del 40%.
“Abbiamo avuto un massiccio incremento degli attacchi dall’inizio della scorsa settimana” ha riferito a Utv.
“La polizia adesso ci ha parlato di un aumento di circa il 40% della criminalità rispetto allo scorso anno, e questo è molto preoccupante”.

Le finestre anteriori della casa di un cittadino polacco residente in Mountcollyer Avenue sono state infrante venerdì scorso, in quello che viene ritenuto un crimine razziale.
Lunedì sera due famiglie polacche con bambini piccoli sono state minacciate da alcuni uomini in un attacco razzista.
Uno degli uomini era armato di piccone.
In precedenza sono state frantumate le finestre in due case della zona, una delle quali appartenente alla camera da letto di un ragazzo di 15 anni.
La polizia ha notato un aumento degli attacchi razzisti nella zona di North Belfast e hanno lanciato un appello per chiunque abbia informazioni a farsi avanti.
Scrivendo su Twitter, l’Assistant Chief Constable Stephen Martin ha detto: “I recenti attacchi di odio contro i membri della comunità polacca sono inaccettabili.
“Vi preghiamo di parlare con la polizia se sapete qualcosa in merito”.

‘Massive’ rise in attacks on Polish families
There has been a “massive” increase in the number of attacks on families from Poland, the Polish consul in Northern Ireland has said.
Last week, there were three incidents in the same street, Mountcollyer Avenue in north Belfast, targeting people from Poland.
Jerome Mullen, who represents the Polish community, said the number of attacks is up as much as 40%.
“We’ve had a massive increase all of a sudden in the attacks that have taken place since the beginning of last week,” he told UTV.
“I believe the police now tell us there’s about a 40% increase in race crime over the past year and this is very concerning.”

The front windows of a Polish man’s home were smashed at Mountcollyer Avenue in a suspected hate crime on Friday night.
And last Monday night, two Polish families with young children were threatened by a gang of men in a racist attack.
It was reported that one of the men was carrying a pick axe.
Two houses in the area had windows smashed, one of which was the bedroom of a 15-year-old boy.
Police have noted a rise in hate crime attacks in this area and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
Writing on Twitter, ACC Martin said: “Recent hate attacks on members of the Polish community are unacceptable.
“Please tell the police if you know anything.”
