Il parlamentare SDLP per Foyle, Pat Ramsey, pressa il ministro della Giustizia sulla continua detenzione di Marian Price durante l’incontro avvenuto il 13 dicembre, in cui il parlamentare nazionalista ha evidenziato l’ingiustizia dell’incarcerazione come risultato della revoca della licenza da parte del Segretario di Stato Owen Paterson.
“Ho sollevato con il ministro della Giustizia – David Ford, Ndt – la questione dell’attuale incarcerazione di Marian Price e del suo stato di salute. Ritengo moralmente sbagliato detenere la Price come risultato dell’azione del Segretario di Stato di revocare la sua licenza. Ho chiesto al ministro di impegnarsi a sollevare la questione con il Segretario di Stato – Owen Paterson, Ndt -, in particolare sulla Prerogativa Reale di Grazia, da me già illustrata al NIO.
Questo caso è di fondamentale importanza per portare un nuovo livello di fiducia su come gestiamo le faccende legate alla giustizia. Ho spiegato molto chiaramente al ministro che la salute della Price è fondamentale e che lo stress provocato a lei ed alla sua famiglia a Maghaberry deve essere in prima linea nelle discussioni tra il ministro della GIustizia ed il Northern Ireland Office.
Voglio dirlo chiaramente: Marian Price deve essere rilasciata. E l’ho comunicato oggi pomeriggio al ministro ed ai suoi funzionari”.

RAMSEY PRESSES JUSTICE MINISTER ON MARIAN PRICE
SDLP Foyle MLA Pat Ramsey has pressed the Justice Minister on the continued detention of Marian Price at a meeting today where he further highlighted the injustice of her incarceration as a result of the revocation of her license by the Secretary of State
Mr Ramsey said:
“I raised with the Justice Minister the issue of the current incarceration of Marian Price and her state of health which I believe to be morally wrong given Ms Price is being detained as a result of the Secretary of State’s action in revoking her license, a totally unaccountable act. I asked the Minister to commit to liaising with the Secretary of State on the issue, particularly that of the Royal Prerogative of Mercy which I recently raised with the NIO.
This case is of paramount importance to bring a new level of confidence in how we deal with Justice related matters. I made it very clear to the Minister that Ms Price’s health is critically important and that the stress caused to her and her family in relation to her care in Maghaberry need to be at the forefront of discussions between the DOJ and NIO.
I want to make it clear that Ms Price should be released and I conveyed this to the Minister and his officials this afternoon.”
