Processo a Michael Campbell: ascoltato agente infiltrato

Nel processo contro l’uomo di Dundalk, accusato di aver cercato di acquistare armi per la Real IRA in Lituania, è stato ascoltato un agente segreto lituano

Michael Campbell, 36 anni, era stato arrestato nel corso di un’operazione a Vilnius nel 2008.

Lunedì un agente coinvolto nell’operazione congiunta aveva fornito testimonianza nell’aula vuota.

Il giudice del processo aveva stabilito che le testimonianze delicate per la sicurezza interna sarebbero state fornite a porte chiuse.

Campbell viene fermato mentre cercava di trattare con un agente lituano sotto copertura che si fingeva un trafficante di armi.

I suoi avvocati difensori dicono, invece, che è stato incastrato ed il caso non presenta basi solide.

RIRA arms trial hears from agent

The trial of a Dundalk man accused of trying to buy arms for the Real IRA in Lithuania has heard evidence from a Lithuanian intelligence agent.

Michael Campbell, 36, was arrested in 2008 in a sting operation in Vilnius.

On Monday an agent involved in the sting gave evidence in a closed hearing.

The trial judge has ruled that security-sensitive evidence must be given behind closed doors.

Mr Campbell was detained while allegedly meeting an undercover Lithuanian agent posing as an arms dealer.

His defence lawyers claim he was set up and that the case is groundless.
