Real IRA: Più forti di mille parole

Le azioni del gruppo saranno “più forti di mille parole”. Lo riferisce un rappresentante della Real IRA durante la commemorazione dell’Easter Rising a Derry

La Real IRA ha promesso di intensificare la sua campagna armata nel corso dell’anno, annunciando che le sue azioni saranno “più forti di mille parole”.

L’annuncio è stato fatto da un uomo a volto coperto, vestito con l’uniforme paramilitare della Real IRA, durante la commemorazione per l’Easter Rising organizzata dal 32 County Sovereignty Movement presso il City Cemetery a Derry.

Quasi 300 persone si sono radunate nel cimitero per l’evento. C’era anche una considerevole copertura da parte dei mezzi di comunicazione.

Il paramilitare della Real IRA faceva parte di un colorato corteo che è partito dai cancelli del City Cemetery in Blight’s Gardens per raggiungere il monumento repubblicano dove si è tenuta la commemorazione.

Annunciando i progetti del gruppo per i prossimi 12 mesi, l’uomo ha detto: “Quest’anno le nostre azioni saranno più forti di mille parole”.
Quindi il corteo è sparito tra la folla al termine della commemorazione.

Poco dopo, un gruppo di giovani si è radunato a poca distanza dal cimitero e ha cercato di erigere una barricata alla rotonda nei pressi della chiesa di St. Mary, bruciando immondizia sulla strada.

Si è verificato il lancio di almeno una bottiglia incendiaria.

L’avvertimento della Real IRA giunge solo due settimane dopo la rivendicazione del gruppo di aver abbandonato 4 bombe presso differenti luoghi del centro di Derry, provocando ingorghi al traffico. Altri allarmi bomba erano stati lanciati in tutto il Nordirlanda nello stesso periodo.

La Real IRA ha anche rivendicato gli attacchi contro alcune stazioni di polizia negli ultimi mesi.

Marian Price, segretaria nazionale del 32CSM, ha tenuto il discorso principale alla commemorazione e ha chiesto ai repubblicani di “agire” nelle proprie comunità.

“La nostra opposizione intellettuale alle attuali strutture deve essere sostenuta da azioni sul territorio che facciano capire alla gente che la rivolta del 1916 è una questione non completata”, ha affermato. “Dobbiamo agire adesso; non possiamo più aspettare”.

La Price ha anche attaccato Martin McGuinness dello Sinn Fein: “I collaborazionisti che ci chiamano traditori è un coro familiare. Il repubblicanesimo non può essere guidato dai collaborazonisti”, prosegue la Price.

Il repubblicano di Belfast, Terry McCaffery, recentemente rilasciato dal carcere, era presente alla commemorazione.

Actions this year will be ‘louder than a thousand words’

The Real IRA has vowed to intensify its armed campaign in the year ahead, announcing that its actions will be “louder than one thousand words.”
The announcement was made by a masked member of the organisation dressed in full paramilitary clothing at an Easter Rising commemoration organised by the 32 County Sovereignty Movement (32CSM) at Derry’s City Cemetery yesterday afternoon.

Around 300 people gathered in the cemetery for the event. There was also a considerable media presence.

The Real IRA man was part of a colour party which paraded from the cemetery gates at Bligh’s Gardens to the republican monument for the commemoration.

Announcing the group’s plans for the next 12 months, the masked man said: “Our actions this year will be louder than one thousand words.”
The masked colour party disappeared into the crowd at the end of the commemoration.

A short time later, a group of young people gathered close to the cemetery and attempted to set up a barricade at the roundabout close to St Mary’s Church by burning rubbish on the road.

At least one petrol bomb was thrown.

The Real IRA warning comes just two weeks after the group said it planted four bombs in a number of locations in Derry’s city centre which led to traffic chaos. Similar bomb alerts occurred across the North at the same time.

The Real IRA has also claimed responsibility for attacks on a number of PSNI stations in recent months.

Marion Price, national secretary of the 32CSM, delivered the main oration at the commemoration and called for republicans to “take action” in their local communities.

“Our intellectual opposition to the current structures must be matched with action on the ground to leave people in no doubt that 1916 is unfinished business,” she said. “We need to act now; we cannot wait any longer.”

Ms Price also attacked Sinn Féin’s Martin McGuinness in her speech. “Quislings denouncing us as traitors is a familiar chorus. Republicanism cannot be led by quislings,” she said.

Belfast republican Terry McCafferty, who was recently released from prison, was among those at yesterday’s commemoration.
