Riot del 12 luglio 2011: altri due uomini arrestati

Due uomini sono stati arrestati in connessione con i disordini di North Belfast del 12 luglio

Gli uomini, di 23 e 37 anni, vengono interrogati dagli investigatori riguardo ai disordini di Belfast, avvenuti prima e dopo le celebrazioni dell’Orange Order.

Il trentasettenne viene interrogato per la violenza esplosa ad Ardoyne, quando i nazionalisti hanno attaccato la polizia dopo la parata contenziosa.

Anche la notte precedente c’erano stati importanti disordini nella zona.

Ventidue poliziotti sono stati feriti durante diverse ore di scontri avvenuti la sera dell’11 luglio nella zona di Broadway.

Durante tre notti di sommossa in tutta la città, sono stati esplosi colpi di arma da fuoco contro la polizia mentre decine di bottiglie molotov sono state lanciate.

La PSNI ha risposto con l’impiego di idranti e sparando oltre 100 proiettili di plastica.

Dopo i disordini il vice comandante della polizia Duncan McCausland aveva promesso “arresti significativi” delle persone coinvolte.

Fino ad ora la polizia ha eseguito 33 arresti in tutta l’Irlanda del Nord per i disordini scatenati il 12 luglio.

Twelfth rioting: two men arrested

Two men have been arrested in connection with rioting in north Belfast on 12 July.

The men, aged 37 and 23, are being questioned by detectives investigating the trouble in Belfast, before and after, the Orange Order celebrations.

The 37-year-old is being questioned about the trouble in Ardoyne, where nationalists attacked police following the contentious north Belfast parade.

There was also serious disorder in north Belfast the night before.

Twenty-two police officers were injured during several hours of violence in the Broadway area on 11 July.

During three nights of trouble across the city, shots were fired at police and rioters also threw petrol bombs.

The PSNI responded with water cannon and fired over 100 baton rounds.

After the rioting, Assistant Chief Constable Duncan McCausland promised there would be “significant arrests” of those involved.

The PSNI has so far made a total of 33 arrests across Northern Ireland in relation to trouble around the 12 July holidays.
