Orange Halls to benefit from £500k funding boost
The Orange Order has welcomed news of a £500,000 funding boost for community halls.
Priority will be given to buildings subjected to recent criminal damage or those under-used because of disrepair, as part of the scheme announced by Communities Minister Paul Givan.
The Orange Order said it has 750 halls across Northern Ireland – and said there have been 33 sectarian attacks on them this year alone.
A spokesperson added: “The activities carried out in these halls provide a social lifeline to many otherwise isolated rural communities.
“We would encourage all lodges and associated groups, who meet the appropriate criteria, to utilise such funding for the betterment of their local communities.”
