Allarme a Glengormley per auto rubata. Eseguite esplosioni controllate
Stolen car in Glengormley alert
A security alert in Glengormley has ended, after a number of controlled explosions were carried out on a suspicious car.
Several homes were evacuated in the Hillview Drive and Linview Mews areas, as police and army bomb experts dealt with the vehicle on Ballyclare Road.
Police say nothing suspicious was found but they believe that the vehicle was stolen.
The car has been taken away for further forensic examinations.
North Belfast DUP MP Nigel Dodds said that the prolonged alert in Co Antrim has “caused great anxiety and inconvenience for local people.”
The Ballyclare Road was closed near the entrance to Glengormley Park, as well as the junction of Portland Avenue and Ballyclare Road, during the security operation.
“The blame for all this disturbance lies squarely with those who abandoned the stolen vehicle which has caused this security alert. By their reckless behaviour they have caused difficulty and disruption for many innocent people,” Mr Dodds said.
