Security alert in south Armagh
FAMILIES living in the border area of south Armagh have been forced to leave their homes due to a security alert.
The alert was first raised last Tuesday but the area was only cordoned off at the weekend.
The security forces are examining the claim that a suspicious device was left close to the border in the countryside near Forkhill.
It is believed as many as 20 people, including farmers, have been affected.
Councillor Anthony Flynn told the BBC that many farmers were not allowed access to their own fields.
“The area sealed off is in both the north and south. As well as families who have been disrupted and moved out, it is affecting scores of others,” he said.
