Attacco incendiario distrugge scuola a Belfast
Arson attack destroys Belfast school
New school places are being sought for 400 pupils whose school was destroyed by arsonists in Belfast at the weekend.
Extensive damage was caused in the fire at Whitehouse Primary in Newtownabbey on Friday.
Nearby homes had to be evacuated as firefighters battled the blaze in the early hours.
Only the nursery section of the school survived.
Officials are to meet today to discuss how to provide facilities for the new school year for the pupils.
School principal David McConkey said: ‘It’s absolutely devastating. Dreadful day for the school in terms of the damage that’s been done to the building and the resources within it.’
‘The parents, the pupils as well, have been in contact and they’re very upset.’
SDLP Newtownabbey councillor Noreen McClelland branded the overnight arson attack despicable.
