Tour del Nord orangista: tensione a Belfast
Contentious parade due in north Belfast
The first contentious parade of Northern Ireland’s marching season is due to take place on Friday night in north Belfast, amid concerns of violence.
Two Tour of the North feeder parades have been re-routed away from an interface area in Ardoyne, which has been the scene of previous clashes – including last Twelfth of July.
A large police presence monitored counter-protests from both sides of the community on Thursday evening, as tensions ran high.
The PSNI has said officers will also keep a watchful eye on Friday, to ensure the parade passes off peacefully.
Traffic will be disrupted for a time and Translink has announced some changes to its usual schedule in the area.
