Man hit in leg after shots fired through window in Belfast
Two men escaped death when a number of shots were fired through the window of a house in west Belfast.
One of the men was rushed to hospital after being struck once in the leg during the attack at Norglen Parade in the Turf Lodge estate on Saturday night. His injuries were described as “not life-threatening” last night.
No-one else was in the property at the time. There was no response at the house yesterday afternoon.
Neighbours didn’t wish to speculate on why the victim was targeted, though one said the shooting had caused shock throughout the area.
“There are a lot of young children around here and it terrifies me to think one of them could have been hit if they’d been in the wrong place at the wrong time,” he said.
The attack was reported to police shortly after 11pm.
Police say they are working to establish a motive for the shooting and have not ruled out paramilitary involvement.
